FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WEHO
News article statement
Dear WHIFF
Associates, Participants and Fans.
I would
like to start by thanking all of you, for the
kind words of support I’ve been receiving from
you through our website, Facebook and US mail.
The growth and success of our festival depends
greatly on you, and the “positive-feedback” we
get from the media and press.
Unfortunately, there is a rather disturbing
article written and published on August 17th
2009 by WEHO News about me and WHIFF 2009. The
accusations and allegations claimed by WEHO News
writer Ryan Gierach, are not only false, but
extremely damaging to me and our organization.
There are always two sides to a story, and WEHO
News has decided to publish this article prior
to confirm or consider talking to us about what
really took place. At best, it was a simple
misunderstanding; but Mr. Gierach has taken this
to new levels of poor journalism by taking sides
for what if seems to be a personal attack on
us. All films and film makers have equal
rights to exposure time and deserve our full
attention; for no one point of view is obsolete,
but rather shares a common goal towards a better
society and human experiences in the art of film
making.
WHIFF on
its second year, has successfully featured
documentaries, films and film makers with
content dealing with powerful issues, such as:
cancer and patients, children with AIDS, world
hunger, human rights, and human equality abroad.
On a local
level, WHIFF has place the city of West
Hollywood in a positive-light in the eyes of
world wide audiences and national and
international press and media as an innovative
and progressive thriving community supporting
the arts. We are finding and discovering every
day, young artists and talented filmmakers who
aspire to achieve their dreams and goals. Our
youth, is our future, we must nurture them with
love and compassion through the arts.
We are a
new organization, and we are learning valuable
lessons as we grow. But we are long time
professionals in the industry in Hollywood, and
in our community with many years of experience
organizing events throughout the country. As we
prepare to work on WHIFF 2010, we are committed
to excellence and fairness to all our films and
our filmmakers.
Sincerely,
Martin
Deluca
WHIFF
Founder.
